How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter the total page count of the book (both sides of each sheet counted).
  2. Enter the paper weight in GSM — 80 GSM for standard office paper, 100 GSM for book paper.
  3. Select the binding method: perfect binding, sewn kettle stitch, Coptic, Japanese stab, or staple/pamphlet.
  4. Enter the number of copies to calculate total sheets for a print run.
  5. Read the spine width in mm and inches — use this measurement when designing the cover layout.
  6. Note the text block thickness and swell allowance to understand how your binding method affects the spine.
