How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter the total page count for the finished book.
  2. Select the fold type that matches your binding style: folio (4 pp), quarto (8), octavo (16), or sextodecimo (32).
  3. Set the number of sheets nested per signature — usually 1, but 2–3 for thinner paper.
  4. Enter the paper weight in GSM to get an estimated signature thickness.
  5. Read the number of signatures and pages per signature to plan your sewing order.
  6. Note any blank pages added and the total text block thickness to finalize spine width calculations.
