Rope Length Calculator
Calculate the minimum rope length needed for a climbing route based on wall height, anchor setback, knot allowance, and safety margin. Includes rappel length and recommended standard rope size.

How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the height of the wall or pitch in meters.
- Input the anchor setback — the horizontal distance from the wall to where your anchor is placed.
- Specify any extra rope needed for knots, anchoring, and belay setup (typically 5–10 m).
- Select single or half/twin rope system, as this affects how much rope you need to lower a full pitch.
- Read Minimum Rope Length to safely complete the route and lower back to the ground.
- Use the Recommended Standard Length to choose the nearest commercially available rope (60 m, 70 m, etc.).
