How to Use This Calculator
  1. Take a spectrophotometer reading of the restoration and enter the Sample L*, a*, and b* values.
  2. Enter the Target L*, a*, and b* values from the natural tooth reading.
  3. Review the calculated Delta E — values below 1.0 are imperceptible, below 3.3 are clinically acceptable.
  4. Check Match Quality and the Clinically Acceptable flag to determine if the restoration passes.
  5. Use the Value Assessment and Chroma Assessment guidance to adjust layering or staining as needed.
