How to Use This Calculator
- Toggle each body region (Head/Neck, Chest, Abdomen, Back, Arms, Legs, Genitalia) that has full- or partial-thickness burns.
- Toggle Pediatric Patient if the patient is under 10 years old — the rule of nines adjusts for larger head-to-body ratio.
- Enter Patient Weight (kg) for Parkland formula fluid resuscitation.
- Review Total Body Surface Area Burned (%) — burns >= 20% TBSA require fluid resuscitation.
- Use Parkland 24h Total (mL) to set the IV fluid rate: half in first 8 hours, half over next 16 hours.
