How to Use This Calculator
- Enter Fiber Length (km) and Total End-to-End Loss (dB) from the OTDR trace.
- Enter Total Events — the number of reflective and non-reflective events identified on the trace.
- Break down events into Reflective Events (connectors, mechanical splices) and Non-Reflective Events (fusion splices).
- Select the Test Wavelength (850, 1310, or 1550 nm) used during the OTDR test.
- Review Overall Attenuation (dB/km), Loss Margin (dB), and Passed (1=Yes) — if the link fails the budget, investigate high-loss events.
