How to Use This Calculator
  1. Select the knot you plan to tie — Palomar, Improved Clinch, Uni, Blood, or Surgeon's.
  2. Choose your line material: monofilament, fluorocarbon, or braided line.
  3. Enter the line's rated test strength in lbs (printed on the spool).
  4. Read Knot Strength (%) to see how much rated strength the knot retains.
  5. Check Effective Strength in lbs — this is the actual force at which the knot will fail.
  6. Use the Recommendation Score to compare knot-line combos and choose the best option for your setup.
