How to Use This Calculator
- Wrap your yarn around a ruler for 1 inch (snugly, without overlapping) and count the wraps — enter this as WPI.
- Select the weave structure: plain weave, twill, satin/sateen, or lace/open.
- Set the desired coverage percentage — 100% for balanced cloth, lower for open weaves, higher for rep weave.
- Optionally enter the yarn diameter in inches measured with calipers for a cross-check.
- Read the recommended EPI and the balanced PPI for a square, balanced weave.
- Compare the warp-faced and weft-faced PPI values if you want a surface dominated by one yarn.
