How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter the total batch weight in grams — use 100–500 g for test batches and 1000–5000 g for studio batches.
  2. Set the silica (SiO2) percentage, typically 20–40%, to control glass formation.
  3. Enter the alumina (Al2O3) percentage (10–20%) to add durability and prevent glaze running.
  4. Set the flux percentage (feldspar, whiting, etc.) — usually 30–60% to lower the melting point.
  5. Enter the colorant oxide percentage (cobalt, iron, copper, etc.) — typically 1–10%.
  6. Read the calculated gram weights for each ingredient and weigh them on a digital scale for mixing.
