This calculator sizes gutter guard material and cost from three inputs: your total gutter length, gutter width, and guard type. Guard Length always equals your Gutter Length exactly -- guard material is cut to run the full length of your gutters, so this figure never depends on width or type. Corner Pieces are estimated at roughly one per 25 feet of gutter (minimum two), and End Caps at two per run, with the number of runs estimated from length divided by 40 feet.
Estimated Cost is where Guard Type matters most: the per-linear-foot material cost ranges from $2.50 for foam insert up to $10.00 for micro-mesh, a four-fold spread that swings total cost more than a 10% change in gutter length does. Gutter Width adds a flat 15% surcharge to material cost for 6" oversized gutters versus 5" standard, since wider guard stock costs more per foot.
