How to Use This Calculator
- Select the number of sink compartments (1 = single bowl, 2 = double, 3 = triple).
- Toggle Dishwasher, Ice Maker, and Pot Filler to 1 for each appliance being connected.
- Enter the main run length in feet — the distance from your supply/stack to the kitchen fixtures.
- Choose your supply pipe material: 0 = PEX, 1 = CPVC, or 2 = Copper.
- Review Total Fixture Units and Drain Pipe Size to ensure your drain can handle the load.
- Use the Estimated Material Cost to budget for pipe and fittings before hiring a plumber.
What each input means
- Sink compartments
- Single, double, or triple-bowl kitchen sink.
- Dishwasher? (0=No, 1=Yes)
- Adds hot/cold supply and dedicated drain connection.
- Ice maker? (0=No, 1=Yes)
- Refrigerator ice maker / water dispenser line.
- Pot filler faucet? (0=No, 1=Yes)
- Wall-mounted cold water faucet near the range.
- Main run length (ft)
- Distance from main supply/stack to kitchen fixtures.
- Supply pipe (0=PEX, 1=CPVC, 2=Copper)
- Supply pipe material. DWV is always PVC.
What each result means
- Total fixture units
- UPC drainage fixture units determining drain pipe size.
- Drain pipe size (in.)
- Minimum drain pipe diameter per code.
- Vent pipe size (in.)
- Minimum vent pipe diameter.
- Total pipe needed (ft)
- All supply + DWV pipe footage combined.
- Cold supply pipe (ft)
- 3/4" main + 1/2" branches.
- Hot supply pipe (ft)
- Hot water supply run.
- Drain pipe (ft)
- DWV drain run footage.
- Vent pipe (ft)
- Vent stack footage.
- Estimated material cost
- Pipe + fittings material cost (labor not included).
- Fittings cost (included)
- Estimated fittings at ~30% of pipe cost.
