Shotcrete Volume Calculator
Calculate shotcrete volume needed including rebound waste, overspray, weight, and application time estimates.

Total Volume to Order (yd³)
7.72
Application Time (hrs)
1.7
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the total surface area in sq ft that will receive the shotcrete application.
- Set the design thickness in inches as specified by engineering drawings.
- Enter the rebound rate (%): 5–15% for wet-mix shotcrete, 15–30% for dry-mix.
- Enter the overspray percentage for material lost beyond the target area (typically 5–15%).
- Read Total Volume to Order (yd³) — this accounts for rebound and overspray waste added to net volume.
- Use Application Time (hrs) to schedule crews and batch plant deliveries.
How the result changes with Surface Area (sq ft)
| Surface Area (sq ft) | Total Volume to Order (yd³) | Application Time (hrs) |
|---|---|---|
| 10,001 | 154.34 | 34.3 |
| 35,001 | 540.14 | 120 |
| 65,000 | 1,003.09 | 222.9 |
| 90,000 | 1,388.89 | 308.6 |
What each input means
- Surface Area (sq ft)
- Total surface area to be covered with shotcrete
- Thickness (in)
- Design thickness of shotcrete application
- Rebound Rate (%)
- Material rebound (wet-mix: 5-15%, dry-mix: 15-30%)
- Overspray (%)
- Material lost to overspray beyond the target area
How this is calculated
Worked example, using the default values
- Identify Input Parameters4 parametersSurface Area (sq ft) = 500, Thickness (in) = 4, Rebound Rate (%) = 15, Overspray (%) = 10 = 4 input(s) provided
