How to Use This Calculator
  1. Measure the total seam length to be stitched in inches.
  2. Enter the stitch length in stitches per inch (SPI) — typically 5-8 SPI for most work.
  3. Set the number of needles (1 for running stitch, 2 for saddle stitch).
  4. Review the total thread length required in inches and feet.
  5. Cut thread to the calculated length plus 6 inches for knot tying at each end.
