Media cost multiplies that area by a per-square-foot rate that depends on substrate — vinyl at $2.50, canvas at $4.00, paper at $1.50, and fabric at $5.00 per sq ft — then multiplies by quantity, since substrate cost is the largest line item for most large-format jobs. Ink cost is calculated separately at $0.75 per sq ft for most media, but bumped to $1.00 for canvas specifically, reflecting that canvas printing (common for fine-art reproductions) typically lays down more ink to achieve rich color and texture on an absorbent surface.
