Window Graphics Calculator
Calculate total vinyl area and cost for window graphics or perforated window wraps.
About this calculator
This calculator prices vinyl window graphics or perforated window film for a storefront. Total vinyl area starts from a straightforward geometric multiplication — width times height times number of windows — then scales down by the coverage percentage, since perforated and frosted vinyl jobs rarely wrap 100% of the glass (leaving margins or partial coverage for light or visibility is common). Material cost applies a flat $6 per square foot rate and then adds 10% on top to account for waste from cutting, alignment, and trim scrap, which is standard practice when estimating any vinyl job.
Installation is priced separately at $7 per square foot, reflecting professional application labor, which for perforated window film in particular requires careful squeegee work to avoid bubbles and misalignment on multiple panes. These per-square-foot rates are flat national-average estimates baked into the calculator rather than adjustable inputs, so actual material cost will vary by vinyl type (clear cast vinyl and one-way perforated vision film cost meaningfully more than plain frosted vinyl) and actual labor cost will vary by market and job complexity — treat the output as a ballpark for budgeting rather than a bid number. The most common mixup with this calculator is entering total combined window area instead of per-window dimensions plus a separate window count, which double-counts area and inflates the estimate.

How to Use This Calculator
- Enter window width (ft) and height (ft) for a single window, along with the number of windows to cover.
- Set the coverage percentage — the share of each window's area covered by vinyl (100% = full coverage).
- The calculator multiplies window area by window count and coverage percentage to get total vinyl area.
- Review the total vinyl area (sqft), material cost, and installation cost.
- Material cost is estimated at $6/sqft plus 10% waste, and installation at $7/sqft for professional application.
How the result changes with Window Width (ft)
| Window Width (ft) | Total Vinyl Area | Installation Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 38.4 sqft | $269.00 |
| 4.5 | 57.6 sqft | $403.00 |
| 9 | 115.2 sqft | $806.00 |
| 15 | 192 sqft | $1,344.00 |
What each input means
- Window Width (ft)
- Width of each individual window in feet
- Window Height (ft)
- Height of each individual window in feet
- Number of Windows
- Total number of windows to cover with graphics
- Coverage (%)
- Percentage of each window covered by vinyl (100% = full coverage)

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I enter the total combined area of all my windows, or per-window dimensions?
Enter the width and height of one individual window and set the Number of Windows separately — the calculator multiplies width × height × count internally. Entering your already-combined total square footage as the width or height, and then also entering a window count greater than one, double-counts area and inflates every downstream cost.
Why is my total vinyl area less than width × height × window count?
The raw geometric area (width × height × count) is scaled down by the Coverage percentage you set, since perforated and frosted window vinyl jobs commonly leave margins or partial coverage rather than wrapping 100% of the glass. At the default 80% coverage, total vinyl area comes out to 80% of the full geometric window area.
Why is installation cost higher per square foot than material cost?
The calculator prices material at a flat $6/sqft (plus 10% for cutting and trim waste) and installation separately at $7/sqft, reflecting that professional application labor — especially for perforated one-way vision film, which needs careful squeegee work across multiple panes to avoid bubbles and misalignment — typically costs more per square foot than the vinyl material itself.
Does the material cost account for different vinyl types like cast vinyl or perforated film?
No — the $6/sqft material rate is a single flat national-average estimate baked into the calculator, not adjustable by vinyl type. Clear cast vinyl and one-way perforated vision film typically cost meaningfully more than plain frosted vinyl, so treat the material cost output as a ballpark rather than a bid number for your specific film choice.
