This calculator spreads a fixed amount of studying evenly across the time you have left, dividing Total Study Hours Needed by Days Available to get Hours Per Day, then dividing that by Study Sessions Per Day to get Hours Per Session and Minutes Per Session. Raising Total Study Hours Needed always raises Hours Per Day -- more material to cover in the same window means more studying per day -- while raising Days Available always lowers Hours Per Day, since the same workload gets spread across more time. Study Sessions Per Day has no effect on Hours Per Day at all: it doesn't change how much studying you need to do each day, only how that daily total gets split into individual blocks. More sessions per day means each individual session is shorter, since Hours Per Session is Hours Per Day divided evenly by the session count -- doubling your sessions halves the length of each one, for the same total daily study time. Does the number of study sessions per day change how many hours I study each day?

No. Hours Per Day is calculated purely from Total Study Hours Needed divided by Days Available -- Study Sessions Per Day has no effect on it. Sessions per day only determines how that same daily total is split into individual blocks, changing Hours Per Session and Minutes Per Session instead.

If I have fewer days available, does my daily study load go up or down?

Up. Hours Per Day is Total Study Hours Needed divided by Days Available, so shrinking the number of available days always increases the hours you need to study each remaining day to finish the same total material -- and adding more days always reduces it.

Why does adding more sessions per day make each session shorter?

Hours Per Session divides your fixed Hours Per Day evenly across however many Study Sessions Per Day you choose, so adding more sessions spreads the same daily total across more blocks. Four 30-minute sessions and two 1-hour sessions cover the identical total daily study time -- only the chunking differs.
