How to Use This Calculator
- Measure your lawn area in square feet and enter your grass type — different species have very different fertilizer and mowing needs.
- Select your region (Northeast, Midwest, South, etc.) to adjust watering recommendations for your climate.
- Choose your current lawn condition — poor, fair, or good — to get the right overseeding rate.
- Review the Annual Nitrogen Needed and the number of fertilizer applications per year (using a 20-0-5 fertilizer as the reference).
- Note the Overseeding Seed Needed (lbs), Weekly Water requirements (inches and gallons), and recommended mowing interval and height.
