How to Use This Calculator
- Enter projected part area per cavity (in²) — measure on the parting line plane in your CAD model.
- Set cavity pressure (PSI) based on material and part geometry — typically 5,000–15,000 PSI.
- Enter number of cavities in the mold.
- Review required clamp force (tons and kN) and confirm your press has sufficient clamping tonnage.
- Add 10–15% safety margin above the calculated requirement when selecting the press.
