How to Use This Calculator
- Select Tooth Position (anterior, premolar, or molar) from the dropdown.
- Enter Canal Curvature in degrees and Number of Canals.
- Rate Calcification Level (0-3) and Resorption Level (0-3).
- Toggle Prior Endo Treatment if the tooth has been previously treated.
- Review Difficulty Score (0-100) — scores above 65 suggest referral to an endodontist.
What each input means
- Tooth position (1-3)
- 1 = anterior, 2 = premolar, 3 = molar.
- Canal curvature (degrees)
- Maximum canal curvature angle in degrees.
- Number of canals
- Expected or known number of root canals.
- Calcification level (0-3)
- 0 = none, 1 = mild, 2 = moderate, 3 = severe.
- Resorption level (0-3)
- 0 = none, 1 = mild external, 2 = moderate, 3 = severe.
- Prior endo treatment (0/1)
- 0 = primary treatment, 1 = retreatment case.
What each result means
- Difficulty score (0-100)
- Weighted case difficulty score based on AAE assessment criteria.
- Difficulty level (1-3)
- 1 = minimal, 2 = moderate, 3 = high difficulty.
- Referral recommended (0/1)
- 1 = referral to endodontist recommended.

- Estimated treatment duration in minutes.
