Total Volume
Total volume of IV fluid to be infused. Formula: drip rate (gtt/min) = (volume × drop factor) ÷ (time in minutes). Standard maintenance IV rate is typically 100–125 mL/hr for adults.
Infusion Time
Duration over which the fluid should be infused.
Drop Factor
Drops per mL calibration of the IV administration tubing. Macrodrip sets: 10, 15, or 20 gtt/mL for routine infusions. Microdrip sets: 60 gtt/mL for pediatrics, small volumes, or precise medication delivery.
