  1. Select the DOT Hazard Class (1–9) for the material you are shipping using the DOT Hazardous Materials Table (49 CFR 172.101).
  2. Choose the Packing Group (I=greatest danger, II=medium, III=minor) and enter the total Quantity (lbs) being shipped.
  3. Select the Container Type (1=Drum, 2=Jerrycan, 3=Box, 4=Cylinder, 5=Tote/IBC) that will hold the material.
  4. Review Placards Required and Labels per Package outputs to ensure proper marking before shipment.
  5. Check Shipping Papers Required and Emergency Phone Required to confirm all documentation is prepared.
  6. Use the Est. Shipping Surcharge result to plan hazmat freight costs and verify your team meets Hazmat Training Required.
