How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter the total number of paddlers (not counting the drummer or steerer); standard dragon boat uses 20.
  2. Input the average, heaviest, and lightest paddler weights in lbs for balance analysis.
  3. Enter the drummer's weight (bow position) and steerer's weight (stern position).
  4. Read Total Crew Weight and Crew Balance Score — competitive teams target a balance score of 80 or above.
  5. Check Weight Spread % to identify how uniform your roster is; tighter spreads improve timing.
  6. Use Optimal Stroke Rate (spm) as a baseline for training and race-pace planning.
