How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your total time in bed (hours) and how long it took to fall asleep (minutes).
- Record the number of night awakenings and average duration of each awakening (minutes).
- Select your wearable's sensor type (accelerometer-only, accel+PPG, accel+PPG+SpO2, or EEG headband).
- Enter your age and hours before bed that you last consumed caffeine.
- Review sleep quality score, sleep efficiency (%), estimated deep sleep and REM sleep minutes.

- Total hours spent in bed from lights-off to getting up.
- Time to fall asleep (min)
- Minutes from lights-off until falling asleep (sleep onset latency).
- Night awakenings
- Number of times you wake during the night.
- Avg awakening duration (min)
- Average duration of each night awakening in minutes.
- Wearable sensor type
- Select the wearable sensor type
- Age (years)
- Your age affects expected sleep stage proportions and optimal duration.
- Last caffeine (hours before bed)
- Hours before bedtime of last caffeine intake. <6 hours reduces deep sleep.

- Sleep quality score (0-100)
- Composite sleep quality score based on duration, efficiency, onset, awakenings, and stage balance.
- Sleep efficiency (%)
- Percentage of time in bed actually spent sleeping. Target: >85%.
- Total sleep time (hours)
- Actual estimated sleep time excluding onset and awakenings.
- Deep sleep (min)
- Estimated deep (N3/slow-wave) sleep duration.
- REM sleep (min)
- Estimated REM sleep duration.
- Light sleep (min)
- Estimated light (N1+N2) sleep duration.
- Stage detection accuracy (%)
- Expected accuracy of sleep stage classification by your sensor type.
- Sleep/wake accuracy (%)
