About this calculator
This calculator tracks three separate requirement buckets -- general CEUs, ethics hours, and hands-on hours -- almost entirely independently, plus a separate timeline built from the renewal period. Overall Progress and Remaining CEUs are built only from Total CEUs Required and CEUs Completed (line 6, 10) -- Ethics Hours Required, Ethics Hours Completed, Hands-On Hours Required, and Hands-On Hours Completed never move either output, even though a real license renewal typically requires all three categories to be satisfied. Remaining Ethics Hours and Remaining Hands-On are each their own simple subtraction, floored at zero, from their matching required/completed pair (lines 7-8), with no connection back to the general CEU figures.
Months Until Renewal comes only from Renewal Period and Years Into Cycle (lines 12-13) and is unaffected by any of the six hour-tracking inputs. Status is the one output that reads all three buckets together -- it can only report "Complete" once Remaining CEUs, Remaining Ethics, and Remaining Hands-On have all reached zero (line 22) -- but everywhere else on the page, general CEU progress, ethics progress, and hands-on progress are computed and displayed as three unconnected tracks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why doesn't completing my ethics or hands-on hours move my Overall Progress percentage?
Overall Progress is calculated purely from CEUs Completed divided by Total CEUs Required (line 10) -- Ethics Hours Completed and Hands-On Hours Completed are never part of that formula. They are tracked separately as Remaining Ethics Hours and Remaining Hands-On, and only come back together with the general CEU figure inside Status, which checks all three at once (line 22).
Why doesn't changing my Renewal Period or Years Into Cycle affect Remaining CEUs?
Remaining CEUs is Total CEUs Required minus CEUs Completed, floored at zero (line 6) -- Renewal Period and Years Into Cycle are never referenced in that subtraction. They only drive Months Until Renewal (lines 12-13), a separate output used to pace how many CEUs per month you need, not how many CEUs remain in total.
Do CEUs Completed and Total CEUs Required move Overall Progress by the same amount?
Roughly, yes, but in opposite directions. Raising CEUs Completed by 10% raises Overall Progress, while raising Total CEUs Required by the same 10% lowers it by a similar magnitude, since Overall Progress is CEUs Completed divided by Total CEUs Required (line 10) -- growing the denominator has close to the same-sized effect as shrinking the numerator at the calculator's default inputs.
Can Status show 'Complete' if I still have unfinished ethics or hands-on hours?
No. Status only reports "Complete" when Remaining CEUs, Remaining Ethics Hours, and Remaining Hands-On have all independently reached zero (line 22) -- finishing your general CEUs alone is not enough. Every other Status category, such as "On Track" or "Behind Schedule," is driven only by Overall Progress and Months Until Renewal, without checking the ethics or hands-on buckets at all.
