That means finishing your total requirement doesn't automatically satisfy the specialty carve-out unless enough of those completed hours actually covered the required topic, which is why this calculator reports the two as separate outputs rather than combining them into one number.

It means that, at the pace implied by Hours Needed Per Month, you would not finish Remaining Hours before your renewal deadline if that pace isn't increased. It's a planning signal based on simple division of hours over months remaining, not an assessment of how easy or hard it will be to actually find and complete that many courses in the time left, so treat a "No" result as an early warning to act on rather than a fixed prediction.

More months to the same Remaining Hours total spreads the requirement over a longer window, which lowers the hours needed per month proportionally -- doubling the months remaining roughly halves the required monthly pace, all else equal. That's why checking your renewal date early in the cycle, rather than close to the deadline, gives you the most flexibility to spread out coursework.

No -- Specialty CEUs Completed only affects Specialty Hours Remaining, the separate specialty-tracking output. Remaining Hours is calculated purely from Required CE Hours minus Completed CE Hours, so specialty-specific inputs don't feed into it at all in this calculator; specialty hours already logged toward your general total should be entered through Completed CE Hours as well if your state counts them that way.
