TikTok Analytics Calculator

Analyze TikTok video performance with engagement rate, completion rate, viral score, and follower gain estimates.

About this calculator

This calculator turns raw TikTok video stats into three comparable rates and a composite viral score. Engagement rate is total interactions (likes + comments + shares) divided by views; completion rate is average watch time divided by video duration, capped at 100% for display; share rate is shares divided by views on its own, since shares are the strongest signal of content someone found worth spreading. The viral score weights these three unevenly: share rate contributes the most (×30), completion rate contributes almost as much (×40 after being expressed as a 0–1 fraction), and engagement rate contributes the least (×3) — reflecting that on TikTok, getting people to watch to the end and forward a clip to friends predicts algorithmic reach far better than likes or comments do.

The score is capped at 100. Estimated follower gain is the roughest output: it multiplies total views by a conversion factor derived from the engagement rate (engagement rate divided by 500, with a small floor so it's never zero), which encodes the assumption that more-engaged viewers convert to follows at a higher rate — but it isn't calibrated against real follow-through data, so treat it as a loose approximation rather than a number you can bank on. The most common mixup is confusing completion rate with overall reach or virality: a video can have a high completion rate (a short, tightly-looped clip that people watch fully) while still having weak share rate and engagement, which the viral score will reflect by staying low despite that 100% completion.

How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter your total video views and the number of videos analyzed.
  2. Input total likes, comments, shares, and profile visits from those videos.
  3. Set your follower count at the time of analysis.
  4. Review the TikTok Engagement Rate and Virality Score.
  5. Check the Watch Time Completion Rate estimate to determine if hooks need improvement.

How this is calculated

Worked example, using the default values

  1. Identify Input Parameters
    4 parameters
    Video Views = 50000, Likes = 5000, Comments = 200, Shares = 500 = 6 input(s) provided
  2. Calculate Engagement Rate
    Engagement Rate
    11.4 = 11.4%
  3. Calculate Viral Score
    Viral Score
    80 = 80
  4. Calculate Completion Rate
    Completion Rate = min(100
    40 = 40%
  5. Calculate Share Rate

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does completion rate contribute so much more to the viral score than engagement rate?

The viral score weights share rate by 30, completion rate by 40 (after converting it to a 0-1 fraction), and engagement rate by only 3. This reflects that on TikTok, a viewer watching all the way through and sharing a clip predicts the algorithm pushing it further than raw likes or comments do, so the formula is deliberately built to reward completion and sharing over passive approval.

Can my completion rate be 100% but my viral score still be low?

Yes — completion rate is capped at 100% for display and is only one of three inputs to the viral score. A short, tightly looped clip can rack up a perfect completion rate while still having weak share rate and engagement rate, and since those two components carry most of the score's weight (33 of the possible weighting versus completion's 40), a high completion rate alone won't push the score up on its own.

How is estimated follower gain calculated, and how reliable is it?

It multiplies total views by a conversion factor equal to your engagement rate divided by 500 (with a small floor so it's never exactly zero), so more engaged videos are assumed to convert a larger share of viewers into new followers. This factor isn't calibrated against real follow-through data from TikTok, so treat the number as a directional estimate, not a guaranteed outcome.

What's the difference between engagement rate and share rate here, since shares count toward both?

Engagement rate is total interactions — likes plus comments plus shares — divided by views, so shares are folded into a broader interaction measure. Share rate isolates shares on their own, divided by views, because the calculator treats sharing as the single strongest individual signal that content was worth spreading, distinct from the combined engagement figure.
