This calculator prices interpreting services as Interpreter Fee plus Travel Cost. Interpreter Fee is billable hours (a 2-hour minimum applies even for shorter bookings) multiplied by an hourly rate that is set entirely by Certification -- $65/hr for a Certified interpreter, jumping to $100/hr, roughly 54% more, for Master/CDI -- and then multiplied again by Number of Interpreters, since the ADA-recommended team of two is billed as two separate interpreters working in parallel, not a single combined rate. Because Certification only takes two values (1=Certified or 2=Master), it moves Interpreter Fee in a single ~54% step rather than a smooth curve, so testing values close to the default won't reveal its effect the way a continuous input would -- only comparing the two certification levels directly shows the real jump.

That jump does not carry over to Total Cost at the same size, though, since Travel Cost is unaffected by Certification -- at this calculator's defaults Total Cost rises about 42%, not 54%, and the gap widens further as Travel Distance grows relative to the interpreter fee. Travel Cost applies IRS mileage reimbursement plus a flat $25 fee once Travel Distance exceeds 10 miles, and this too is multiplied by Number of Interpreters since each interpreter travels separately. Nothing here accounts for rush booking fees, cancellation policies, or per-interpreter minimums beyond the 2-hour floor.
