How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the total number of network data drops (outlet locations) in the building.
- Set cables per drop — typically 2 for combined voice and data, or 1 for data-only drops.
- Enter the average horizontal cable run length in feet (TIA-568 limits runs to 295 ft).
- Select the cable type: 1 = Cat5e, 2 = Cat6, 3 = Cat6A based on your bandwidth requirements.
- Set the maximum cables per conduit pathway to determine how many conduit runs are needed.
- Read total cable footage, cable boxes to order, conduit fill percentage, patch panel count, and rack units needed.
