How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter the total number of network data drops (outlet locations) in the building.
  2. Set cables per drop — typically 2 for combined voice and data, or 1 for data-only drops.
  3. Enter the average horizontal cable run length in feet (TIA-568 limits runs to 295 ft).
  4. Select the cable type: 1 = Cat5e, 2 = Cat6, 3 = Cat6A based on your bandwidth requirements.
  5. Set the maximum cables per conduit pathway to determine how many conduit runs are needed.
  6. Read total cable footage, cable boxes to order, conduit fill percentage, patch panel count, and rack units needed.
