How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter wax weight in ounces or grams.
  2. Set burn rate (oz/hr or g/hr) from manufacturer data or your own testing.
  3. Select wick size factor for your wick style.
  4. Review Estimated Burn Time (hours), 4-Hour Burn Sessions, and Days of Use.

What each input means

Wax Weight
Weight of wax in the candle in ounces. An 8 oz container typically holds ~6-7 oz of wax.
Burn Rate
Wax consumption rate in oz per hour. Soy ~0.25, Paraffin ~0.35, Beeswax ~0.20 oz/hr for a standard wick.
Wick Size Factor
Wick size adjustment: 0.7 = small/underwicked (slower burn), 1.0 = correct size, 1.3 = large/overwicked (faster burn).

How this is calculated

Worked example, using the default values

  1. Identify Input Parameters
    Wax Weight = 7, Burn Rate = 0.25, Wick Size Factor = 1 = 3 input(s) provided
  2. Calculate Estimated Burn Time
    Estimated Burn Time
    28 = 28
  3. Calculate 4-Hour Burn Sessions
    4-Hour Burn Sessions
    7 = 7
  4. Calculate Days
    Days
    9.3 = 9.3
