How to Use This Calculator
- Enter Wash temperature code, Wash cycle type, and Bleach allowance.
- Set Drying method and Iron setting.
- Review the Wash temperature (°C) result.
- Use Wash temperature (°F) and Cycle aggressiveness (0-2) to inform your decision.
What each input means
- Wash temperature code
- 0=Cold (20°C), 1=Warm (30°C), 2=Medium (40°C), 3=Hot (50°C), 4=Very hot (60°C), 5=Boil (95°C).
- Wash cycle type
- 0=Normal cycle, 1=Gentle/Permanent press, 2=Delicate/Hand wash.
- Bleach allowance
- 0=Any bleach allowed, 1=Non-chlorine bleach only, 2=No bleach.
- Drying method
- 0=Tumble dry any heat, 1=Tumble dry low, 2=Line/hang dry, 3=Flat dry.
- Iron setting
- 0=Do not iron, 1=Low (110°C/synthetics), 2=Medium (150°C/wool/silk), 3=High (200°C/cotton/linen).
What each result means
- Wash temperature (°C)
- Maximum recommended wash water temperature in Celsius.
- Wash temperature (°F)
- Maximum recommended wash water temperature in Fahrenheit.
- Cycle aggressiveness (0-2)
- 0=Normal agitation, 1=Reduced agitation, 2=Minimal agitation.
- Max spin speed (RPM)
- Recommended maximum spin cycle speed.
- Iron temperature (°C)
- Maximum ironing temperature. 0 means do not iron.
- Energy per cycle (kWh)
- Estimated total energy for washing and drying one load.
- Energy cost per load ($)
- Estimated electricity cost per care cycle at average rates.
- Care complexity (1-10)
- How demanding this garment's care requirements are.
- Total care time (min)
- Estimated total time for wash, dry, and iron cycle.
