How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the table length in inches.
- Enter the average river channel width in inches — measure across the void between the two wood slabs.
- Enter the overall table thickness in inches.
- Enter the average void depth as a percentage of the table thickness (typically 80–100% for a through-pour).
- Read the epoxy needed in gallons and ounces with 15% overage to account for uneven voids and edge sealing.
- Check the exothermic heat calculator if your pour volume is large to confirm safe pour depths and temperatures.
How the result changes with Table Length
| Table Length | Epoxy Needed (with 15% overage) | Pours Required (2" max/pour) |
|---|---|---|
| 25 | 2.09 gal | 1 |
| 58 | 4.85 gal | 1 |
| 98 | 8.2 gal | 1 |
| 131 | 10.96 gal | 1 |
What each input means
- Table Length
- Total length of the table in inches. A standard dining table is 60-84 inches; a coffee table 36-54 inches.
- River Width (avg)
- Average width of the river channel between the two wood slabs. Measure at several points and use the average.
- Table Thickness
- Total thickness of the finished table. Most river tables are 1.5-3 inches thick.
- Void Depth (avg %)
- Average depth of the river channel as a percentage of full thickness. Live edges typically fill 60-80% of the channel depth.
