How to Use This Calculator
- Measure your Room Length (front to back, in feet) and Room Width (side to side) and enter them in the corresponding fields.
- Enter your Desk Width and Desk Depth in feet (a standard student desk is roughly 2.5 ft × 2 ft).
- Set Aisle Width — ADA guidelines recommend at least 3 feet for accessible routes.
- Enter Front Buffer for the teacher area and whiteboard space, and Rear Buffer for back-wall clearance.
- Review Maximum Desks, Rows, and Columns to determine how many students the room can safely accommodate.
- Check Sq Ft per Student and Space Utilization to ensure the layout meets fire code and comfort standards.

- Length of the classroom in feet (front to back).
- Room Width

- Aisle Width
- Width of aisles between desks (ADA minimum ~3 ft).
- Front Buffer (Teacher)
- Space reserved at front for teacher, whiteboard, etc.
- Rear Buffer
- Clearance at the back of the room.
