Yoga Practice Timer Calculator
Calculate total practice time with pose hold durations, transitions, warm-up, and cool-down.
About this calculator
This calculator builds Total Practice Time from four additive pieces: Warm-Up, Active Pose Time (poses held plus the transitions between them), Cool-Down, and Savasana. Number of Poses has the single largest effect on Total Practice Time at the default settings, because it drives two terms at once -- it multiplies directly into Time in Poses, and it also sets how many transitions happen, since Transition Time is (Number of Poses minus one) times Transition Time per gap. Hold Duration per Pose only feeds the first of those two terms, so a given percentage change in Hold Duration per Pose moves the total by somewhat less than the same percentage change in Number of Poses.
Warm-Up, Cool-Down, and Savasana each add their minutes straight into the total with no multiplier, so they move the result by an equal amount for an equal change in any one of them. Breaths per Pose assumes an average four-second breath cycle to estimate breath count, and Estimated Calories Burned applies a flat 4.5 calories-per-minute rate regardless of pose intensity or your body weight -- for a weight-adjusted, style-specific estimate, use the dedicated Yoga Calorie Burn Calculator instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Number of Poses move Total Practice Time more than Hold Duration per Pose?
Number of Poses affects Total Practice Time twice over -- it multiplies directly into Time in Poses, and it also sets how many transitions occur, since Transition Time is based on one fewer than the pose count. Hold Duration per Pose only feeds the first of those two terms, so it moves the total by somewhat less for an equivalent percentage change.
Do Warm-Up, Cool-Down, and Savasana affect the total equally?
Yes. Each is added straight into Total Practice Time with no multiplier attached, so increasing any one of Warm-Up, Cool-Down, or Savasana by a given number of minutes raises the total by that same number of minutes, regardless of which of the three you adjust.
How is Breaths per Pose estimated?
It divides Hold Duration per Pose by 4, assuming an average four-second full breath cycle -- a common rough estimate, not a measurement of your actual breathing rate, which varies by pose, practitioner, and how deep the hold is.
Is Estimated Calories Burned adjusted for my body weight or the type of yoga I'm doing?
No. It applies a flat 4.5 calories-per-minute rate to your Total Practice Time regardless of body weight, pose intensity, or yoga style. For a calorie estimate that factors in your weight, session intensity, and specific yoga style, use the Yoga Calorie Burn Calculator instead.
