How to Use This Calculator
  1. Calculate your grow room volume (Length × Width × Height in feet) and enter it in the Room Volume field.
  2. Enter the number of plants — more plants produce more odor, which increases the required CFM rating.
  3. Select your odor level: 1=Low (herbs), 2=Moderate, 3=High (strong-smelling flowering plants).
  4. Read the Required Filter CFM and recommended Filter Diameter to select the correct carbon filter size.
  5. Note the Estimated Filter Life (months) and Replacement Cost to budget for ongoing operating expenses.

How the result changes with Room Volume

What each input means

Room Volume
Cubic footage of your grow space (L × W × H).
Number of Plants
More plants produce more odor requiring higher CFM.
Odor Level
Select the odor level

How this is calculated

Worked example, using the default values

  1. Identify Input Parameters
    Room Volume = 96, Number of Plants = 4, Odor Level = 2 = 3 input(s) provided
  2. Calculate Required Filter CFM
    Required Filter CFM
    140 = 140
  3. Calculate Filter Diameter
    Filter Diameter
    4 = 4
  4. Calculate Estimated Filter Life
    Estimated Filter Life
    15 = 15
