Honeymoon Budget Calculator

Plan your honeymoon budget with flights, accommodation, food, activities, and travel insurance estimates.

About this calculator

A honeymoon budget has one fixed cost and several costs that scale with how long you're gone, and this calculator separates the two so you can see where your money actually goes. Flight Cost (for 2) is a one-time cost for the trip regardless of how many nights you stay, since round-trip airfare doesn't change once you've booked it. Everything else scales with Number of Nights: Hotel per Night, Daily Activities, and Daily Food & Drink are all multiplied by your trip length to produce Accommodation Total, Activities Total, and Food & Drink Total. On top of those, this calculator adds two costs you set indirectly rather than directly: ground transportation at a flat $50 per night, and souvenirs and incidental shopping at a flat $30 per night, both rolled into Total Honeymoon Cost but not broken out as their own line items.

Travel insurance is estimated at 5% of everything above (flights, hotel, activities, food, and transportation combined) -- a common rule of thumb for trip insurance pricing, though actual quotes vary by destination, trip cost, and traveler age, so treat it as a planning placeholder rather than a firm quote. Cost per Day divides Total Honeymoon Cost by Number of Nights, useful for comparing honeymoon plans of different lengths on equal footing, while Cost per Person simply splits the total in half. Flights % of Total and Accommodation % of Total show how much of your budget each category represents -- useful for deciding where there's room to trim if the total comes in over budget: a longer trip with a modest hotel often costs less overall than a shorter trip at a luxury resort, even though the flight cost is identical either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't Flight Cost change if I extend my trip by a few nights?

Round-trip airfare is a one-time cost tied to your travel dates, not your length of stay -- the plane ticket costs the same whether you spend five nights at the destination or fifteen. Every other cost in this calculator (hotel, food, activities, transportation, and shopping) scales with Number of Nights, which is why extending your trip raises Total Honeymoon Cost even though Flight Cost itself stays fixed.

What exactly is included in Total Honeymoon Cost besides the categories I enter?

Beyond Flight Cost, Accommodation, Food & Drink, and Activities, this calculator adds ground transportation at a flat $50 per night, souvenirs and incidental shopping at $30 per night, and estimated travel insurance at 5% of everything else combined. Those three additions aren't broken out as separate inputs, but they are folded into Total Honeymoon Cost, Cost per Day, and Cost per Person.

Why does Flights % of Total go up if I raise Flight Cost?

Flights % of Total is Flight Cost divided by Total Honeymoon Cost. Raising Flight Cost adds directly to the numerator, and while it also raises the total slightly through the 5% insurance estimate, that extra insurance cost is a small fraction of the flight increase itself -- so the percentage still rises overall when Flight Cost goes up, all else held equal.

Is the 5% travel insurance estimate accurate for my trip?

Treat it as a rough planning placeholder rather than a quote -- 5% of total trip cost is a commonly cited rule of thumb for travel insurance pricing, but real premiums vary by destination, trip length, traveler age, and the specific coverage level (medical evacuation and cancel-for-any-reason policies cost more than basic trip-cancellation coverage). Get an actual quote before finalizing your budget if insurance cost matters to your total.
