How to Use This Calculator
- Observe the child at rest and during movement. Score each FLACC domain 0–2 based on behavioral cues.
- Face (0–2): 0 = no expression or smile, 1 = occasional grimace/frown, 2 = frequent quivering chin or clenched jaw.
- Legs (0–2): 0 = normal/relaxed, 1 = uneasy/restless/tense, 2 = kicking or drawn up. Activity (0–2): 0 = lying quietly, 1 = squirming/tense, 2 = arched/rigid.
- Cry (0–2): 0 = no cry, 1 = moans/whimpers, 2 = crying steadily or screaming. Consolability (0–2): 0 = content, 1 = reassured by touch, 2 = difficult to console.
- Review the Total FLACC Score (0–10), Pain Level, and Recommended Intervention — scores ≥7 indicate severe pain requiring prompt management.
