How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the athlete's age, event type (training/sparring, amateur fight, pro decision, or pro KO/TKO received), and rounds fought.
- Enter damage severity (1-10), water cut in kilograms, and normal (non-cutting) body weight in kilograms.
- Select the most significant injury sustained, if any: none, minor bruising, hand/foot injury, or concussion symptoms.
- Review the total recovery days, along with the rehydration, acute rest, light training return, sparring return, and competition return timelines.
- Check the commission suspension days, dehydration percentage, recommended daily protein, and nightly sleep target.
What each input means
- Age
- Athlete's age (recovery slows with age).
- Event Type
- Type of combat event completed.
- Rounds fought
- Number of rounds completed.
- Damage severity (1-10)
- 1 = minimal, 5 = moderate bruising/swelling, 10 = severe damage.
- Water cut (kg)
- Kilograms of water weight cut before weigh-in.
- Body weight (kg)
- Normal (non-cutting) body weight.
- Injury Type
- Most significant injury sustained.
What each result means
- Total recovery (days)
- Estimated total days until full recovery and competition readiness.
- Rehydration phase (hours)
- Hours needed for proper rehydration post-weigh-in.
- Acute rest phase (days)
- Days of complete rest recommended.
- Light training return (day)

- Sparring return (day)
- Earliest day to resume contact sparring.
- Competition return (day)
- Earliest day to accept another fight.
- Commission suspension (days)
- Typical mandatory medical suspension by athletic commission.
- Dehydration level %
- Water cut as percentage of body weight.
- Recovery protein (g/day)
- Recommended daily protein intake during recovery.
- Sleep target (hrs/night)
- Recommended sleep per night during recovery.
