Three different tons appear in the output columns and none of them agree. The metric tonne is 1000 kg, the long ton used in British shipping is 1016.05 kg, and the US short ton is 907.185 kg — a spread of about twelve percent that has ruined more than one freight quote. This page holds kilograms as its base, scales your figure into kg by its own unit's factor, and scales back out into all ten columns at once. The pound sits at 0.453592 kg and the ounce at 0.0283495 kg, both avoirdupois. The grain, at 64.79891 milligrams, survives almost nowhere except ammunition and propellant loads and older pharmacy scripts, and the stone at 6.35029 kg survives almost nowhere except British and Irish body weight. Two absences are worth naming. There is no troy ounce, so precious-metal quotes will be wrong here: a troy ounce is 31.1035 grams against the avoirdupois 28.3495 the oz column uses. And these are masses, not forces — no gravity is applied anywhere, so nothing on this page yields pounds-force or newtons, and a figure valid on Earth is equally valid on the Moon.
