Preventive Maintenance Schedule
Track service intervals and upcoming maintenance by mileage.
About this calculator
This calculator projects when a vehicle's next five routine services -- oil change, tire rotation, brake service, transmission service, and coolant flush -- come due, based on fixed mileage intervals that vary by Vehicle Type (sedan, SUV/pickup, van, or heavy-duty truck), and estimates typical Est. Annual Maintenance cost for that duty cycle. Miles remaining for each service is simply the mileage at last service plus that service's interval, minus Current Mileage; once that hits zero, the service is flagged overdue and counted in Overdue Services. Est.
Annual Maintenance, by contrast, ignores your service history entirely -- it is a forward-looking estimate built purely from Monthly Miles and Vehicle Type, projecting how many of each service you'd need across a year at that mileage rate and multiplying by a typical cost per service. That means the cost estimate does not reflect whether you're actually behind on maintenance, in good standing, or driving an unusually well- or poorly-maintained vehicle -- it only reflects how much you drive and what kind of vehicle you drive. The calculator also uses flat industry-typical service intervals and costs rather than your specific make, model, or manufacturer-recommended schedule, so treat both outputs as planning estimates rather than a substitute for your owner's manual.

How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the vehicle's Current Mileage and Monthly Miles driven.
- Select the Vehicle Type (sedan, SUV/pickup, van, or heavy-duty truck).
- Enter the mileage at Last Oil Change, Last Tire Rotation, Last Brake Service, Last Transmission Service, and Last Coolant Flush.
- Review the Next Service Due indicator showing the most urgent upcoming service.
- Check the Overdue Services count to prioritize immediate maintenance actions.
What each input means
- Current Mileage
- Current odometer reading.
- Monthly Miles
- Average monthly miles driven.
- Vehicle Type
- Vehicle type determines service intervals.
- Last Oil Change (Mileage)
- Odometer reading at last oil change.
- Last Tire Rotation (Mileage)
- Odometer reading at last tire rotation.
- Last Brake Service (Mileage)
- Odometer reading at last brake pad/rotor service.
- Last Transmission Service (Mileage)
- Odometer reading at last transmission fluid service.
- Last Coolant Flush (Mileage)
- Odometer reading at last coolant system flush.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why doesn't Monthly Miles affect the Overdue Services count?
Overdue Services is based purely on mileage math: it checks whether Current Mileage has already passed the mileage due for each service (last service mileage plus that service's interval). Monthly Miles only comes into play when converting the remaining mileage into a projected number of months until each service, so a vehicle can show overdue services regardless of how many or how few miles you drive per month.
Why is Est. Annual Maintenance the same no matter what I enter for Current Mileage or the last-service mileage fields?
Est. Annual Maintenance is a forward-looking projection built only from Monthly Miles and Vehicle Type -- it estimates how many oil changes, tire rotations, and other services a typical year of that driving pattern requires and prices them out. It deliberately ignores whether you're currently overdue or up to date, since being behind doesn't change how many services a normal year ahead will require.
Does raising Current Mileage always increase the Overdue Services count?
Yes -- raising Current Mileage while holding the last-service mileages fixed can only move each service closer to (or past) its due mileage, never further away, so Overdue Services can only stay the same or increase as Current Mileage rises across this calculator's full range. It never decreases from a higher Current Mileage alone.
How does Vehicle Type change the results?
Vehicle Type selects a different set of mileage intervals and per-service cost estimates -- heavy-duty trucks get longer oil and tire intervals (10,000 miles) than sedans (7,500 miles) but higher per-service costs, while SUVs, pickups, and vans share a shorter, mid-cost schedule. Changing Vehicle Type therefore shifts both which services show as due soon and the Est. Annual Maintenance total, even with identical mileage inputs.
