Clothing Size Calculator
Convert body measurements to US, UK, and EU clothing sizes for shirts, pants, dresses, and shoes.
About this calculator
Garment Type switches the entire sizing path rather than blending rules across categories. For Shirt / Top, US, UK, and EU sizes come from Bust / Chest alone through a stepped inch chart with overlapping letter sizes at the upper end -- for example bust 36-38 both map to US M with different UK and EU numbers (lines 18-26). Fit Recommendation for shirts compares Bust minus Waist and chooses among fitted, standard, or relaxed guidance at ten- and six-inch thresholds (lines 28-32). Pants / Trousers size from Waist only via a separate numeric chart (lines 35-43), while Fit Recommendation there reads Inseam against petite-through-extra-long breakpoints (lines 45-49).
Dresses take the larger of Bust / Chest and Hip through Math.max, then map that single figure to a combined US size label (lines 52-60); dress fit advice uses Hip minus Waist with the same ten- and six-inch cutoffs as shirts but different prose (lines 62-66). Shoes reuse the Bust / Chest field as foot length in centimeters and map through a dedicated chart, always ending with a generic brand-variance note (lines 69-82). Waist and Hip do not participate in shirt size labels; Inseam does not affect shirt or dress size outputs at all. Bust-Waist Difference is only ever assigned in the Shirt branch (Bust minus Waist, line 29) and the Dress branch (Hip minus Waist, line 63); it stays at its zero default for Pants and Shoes, since neither of those garment types has a bust/waist relationship this calculator models (line 14).

How to Use This Calculator
- Select Garment Type: Shirt/Top, Pants/Trousers, Dress, or Shoes.
- Enter the relevant measurement: chest, waist, or hip circumference in inches, or foot length in cm for shoes.
- Review US Size as the primary output, then UK Size and EU Size for international shopping.
- Read Fit Recommendation for guidance on whether to size up or down based on your measurements.
- Re-run for each garment type since sizing standards differ between tops, bottoms, and footwear.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Waist measurement not change US Size when I am sizing a shirt?
For Shirt / Top, US, UK, and EU sizes are looked up from Bust / Chest alone through a fixed inch-bracket table (lines 18-26). Waist enters only the Fit Recommendation for shirts, where the engine subtracts Waist from Bust and compares the difference to six- and ten-inch thresholds (lines 28-32). Changing Waist therefore can change fit advice without moving the reported size labels.
How are dress sizes chosen differently from shirt sizes?
Dresses ignore whichever of Bust / Chest or Hip is smaller and size from Math.max(bust, hip) against a separate dress chart with combined labels such as 6-8 (M) (lines 52-60). Shirts read Bust / Chest only and never consult Hip. Dress Fit Recommendation then uses Hip minus Waist with ten- and six-inch thresholds similar to shirts but pointing toward silhouette styles instead of shirt cuts (lines 62-66).
Why does the calculator ask for foot length in the Bust / Chest field for shoes?
When Garment Type is Shoes, the engine assigns the Bust / Chest input to a foot- length variable measured in centimeters and maps it through a shoe-specific size chart spanning US, UK, and EU footwear labels (lines 69-80). Waist, Hip, and Inseam are not read in that branch at all. Fit Recommendation is a fixed brand-variance sentence rather than a measurement-derived result (line 82).
Does Inseam affect pant size labels or only the fit note?
Pant US, UK, and EU sizes come exclusively from Waist through a numeric chart with no inseam term (lines 35-43). Inseam is consulted only afterward for Fit Recommendation, compared against breakpoints at 28, 30, 32, and 34 inches to suggest petite, regular, long, or extra-long lengths (lines 45-49). A longer inseam changes length guidance without changing the waist-based size number.
Why does Bust-Waist Difference show 0 for Pants and Shoes?
Bust-Waist Difference starts at zero (line 14) and is only overwritten in two branches: Shirt / Top assigns it Bust minus Waist (line 29), and Dress assigns it Hip minus Waist (line 63). The Pants / Trousers and Shoes branches never touch the variable, so it reports its untouched zero default for those garment types -- it is not an error, those garments simply don't have a bust/waist relationship this calculator models. Use Fit Recommendation instead for guidance in those two modes.
