Laundromat Revenue Calculator

Monthly and annual revenue from machine count and pricing.

About this calculator

This calculator projects a laundromat's revenue by multiplying machine count, price per cycle, and throughput across a normal operating month. Washer revenue comes straight from number of washers times average wash price times turns per day times days open per month — a "turn" meaning one complete paid cycle on a single machine. Dryer revenue uses the same turns-per-day figure entered for washers, but discounts it by a factor of 0.8, since dryers typically see somewhat fewer completed cycles per day than washers (customers sometimes air-dry partial loads, double up dryer loads, or use fewer dryer cycles than wash cycles). On top of machine revenue, the model adds a flat vending estimate of $3 per washer per day to account for detergent, soap, and snack/vending-machine sales, which is a simplification — actual vending income varies widely by location and machine selection.

Annual revenue is just the monthly total multiplied by twelve, so it does not account for seasonal swings, holidays, or maintenance downtime. The biggest lever in the model is turns per day: a modest bump from 4 to 6 turns per washer compounds across every machine and every day of the month, so it deserves your most careful, evidence-based estimate — ideally pulled from your own point-of-sale or coin-meter data rather than assumed. Keep in mind this is gross revenue only; it excludes utilities, rent, labor, and equipment financing, so it should be paired with an expense model before using it to judge overall profitability.

How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter the number of washers and dryers and the average price per wash and dry cycle.
  2. Set the average number of turns (cycles) per washer per day.
  3. Enter the number of days per month the laundromat is open.
  4. Review monthly revenue broken down into washer, dryer, and vending revenue.
  5. Check the projected annual revenue based on the monthly total.

How this is calculated

Worked example, using the default values

  1. Identify Input Parameters
    4 parameters
    Number of washers = 20, Number of dryers = 16, Avg wash price ($) = 4.5, Avg dry price ($) = 2 = 6 input(s) provided
  2. Calculate Monthly revenue
    Monthly revenue = monthlyWasherRev + monthlyDryerRev + monthlyVending
    19140 = $19,140
  3. Calculate Annual revenue
    Annual revenue = totalMonthlyRev * 12
    229680 = $229,680
  4. Calculate Washer revenue/mo
    Washer revenue/mo = numWashers * avgWashPrice * turnsPerDayWasher * daysPerMonth
    13500 = $13,500

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is dryer revenue discounted by 20% instead of using its own turns-per-day input?

The calculator reuses the washer turns-per-day figure for dryers but multiplies it by 0.8, on the assumption that dryers complete somewhat fewer cycles per day than washers — customers often combine loads into one dryer cycle or air-dry part of a wash. This keeps the model to a single throughput input instead of asking for a separate dryer estimate, at the cost of some precision if your dryers actually run close to full washer throughput.

What exactly counts as a 'turn' and why does it move the revenue estimate so much?

A turn is one complete paid cycle on a single machine — put a load in, collect payment, the cycle finishes. Because monthly washer revenue multiplies turns per day by every washer and every operating day in the month, a change of even one or two turns compounds across the entire fleet and the whole month, making it the single most sensitive input in the model.

How is the vending revenue figure calculated?

It's a flat $3 per washer per day, meant to represent detergent, soap, and snack or vending-machine sales rather than machine cycles. It doesn't look at actual vending machine count, product pricing, or foot traffic, so treat it as a rough placeholder you should replace with your own historical vending numbers if you have them.

Does the annual revenue projection account for slow months or downtime?

No — annual revenue is simply the monthly total multiplied by twelve, so it assumes every month performs identically to the one you modeled. It won't reflect seasonal dips, holiday closures, or machine downtime for repairs, so a more realistic annual estimate should adjust for any months you expect to underperform the average.

Why does the calculator call this a 'gross' revenue estimate?

All five output figures come only from machine and vending income — none of the calculator's math ever subtracts an expense. Rent, utilities, water, labor, and equipment financing are all absent, so the results describe money coming in, not what's left after running the business, and should be paired with a separate expense model before judging profitability.
