About this calculator
This calculator sizes a cork tile or plank flooring job from room dimensions, tile size, and installation method. Tiles/planks needed and Boxes needed respond to room length, room width, tile width, tile length, and waste factor together, but Adhesive and Underlayment are mutually exclusive: the "Glue-down / Floating" setting is a single on/off switch that routes the entire job down one path or the other. Set it to glue-down and the calculator computes contact adhesive at roughly 60 sq ft per gallon and reports zero underlayment; set it to floating and it computes foam underlayment rolls at 100 sq ft per roll and reports zero adhesive.
Neither path is ever partially applied — there is no installation method that needs some of both in this model. Acclimation time is fixed at 72 hours regardless of room size, tile dimensions, or installation method, reflecting the upper end of cork's commonly cited 48-72 hour acclimation window; real conditions (humidity, subfloor moisture) can extend that further. Box coverage is fixed at 22 sq ft per box in this calculator rather than taken as an input, so double-check it against your specific product's actual box size before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I get either an adhesive amount or an underlayment amount, but never both?
Glue-down and floating are treated as mutually exclusive installation methods. Setting the input to 1 (glue-down) computes contact adhesive at about 60 sq ft per gallon and forces Underlayment to zero; setting it to 0 (floating) computes foam underlayment rolls at 100 sq ft per roll and forces Adhesive to zero. There's no in-between value in this model.
Does the tile size I pick change how much adhesive or underlayment I need?
No. Both Adhesive and Underlayment depend only on the total room area (with waste) and the installation method — tile width and tile length only affect Tiles/planks needed and Boxes needed, not the adhesive or underlayment quantity.
Why does the calculator always show 72 hours of acclimation time?
Acclimation time is fixed at 72 hours in this tool, the upper end of cork's commonly cited 48-72 hour window, regardless of room size, tile dimensions, or installation method. Real acclimation needs can run longer depending on room humidity and subfloor moisture, so treat 72 hours as a minimum, not a guarantee.
Where does the Boxes needed figure come from?
It divides the total room area (including your waste factor) by a fixed 22 square feet per box, then rounds up to a whole box. That coverage figure is built into the calculator rather than entered as an input, so verify it against your specific product's actual box coverage before ordering.
