Boxes needed is a pure area calculation, not a plank tally: at this calculator's defaults, total area with waste (16 ft x 12 ft x 1.1 waste = 211.2 sq ft) divided by the manufacturer's 22 sq-ft-per-box rating rounds up to 10 boxes, and that division never looks at how the 211.2 sq ft is sliced into individual planks. This matters more for bamboo than for some other flooring types: strand-woven bamboo runs noticeably denser and heavier per square foot than laminate or vinyl — the same density that gives it its 3000+ Janka hardness rating — so before ordering, check your box count against the supplier's per-pallet weight limit rather than assuming a different plank size would have changed anything about how many boxes ship.

The calculator computes the full room perimeter (twice the sum of length and width) and subtracts a flat 3 feet to account for one doorway opening. If your room has more than one doorway, add the extra opening width back in manually before ordering trim.

Acclimation time is a fixed minimum in this tool, reflecting the commonly cited 72-hour floor for letting bamboo adjust to a room's temperature and humidity before installation.
