Daily Report Score Calculator

Generate a daily site score from safety incidents, inspection results, and weather delays. Track safety, quality, and productivity alongside your logged workforce count.

About this calculator

Daily Score is a 100-point composite of three independent components: Safety starts at 40 points and loses 15 for every incident, Quality is 30 points times today's inspection pass rate, and Productivity starts at 30 points and loses 10 flat if Weather Delay is Yes. Workforce on Site is collected for context but never enters any of these three component scores -- Daily Score, Inspection Pass Rate, and even Productivity Index all come out identically whether 5 workers or 500 workers were on site. That last one is worth flagging explicitly: despite its "normalized productivity score" label, Productivity Index is defined as Daily Score divided by Workforce on Site and then multiplied back by that same Workforce on Site figure, which is an algebraic identity -- the division and multiplication cancel exactly, so Productivity Index always equals Daily Score regardless of headcount.

Weather Delay is a simple yes/no switch worth a flat 10 points; it does not scale with anything else on the form. Inspection Pass Rate depends only on the ratio of Inspections Passed to total inspections logged, so a project with zero failed inspections shows a perfect pass rate no matter how many inspections passed.

How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter Safety Incidents and select whether there was a Weather Delay (Yes/No).
  2. Set Inspections Passed and Inspections Failed.
  3. Adjust Workforce on Site as needed.
  4. Review Daily Score (/ 100) and Safety Rating.
  5. Use Inspection Pass Rate (%) and Productivity Index to inform your decision.

What each input means

Safety Incidents
Number of safety incidents or near-misses reported today.
Weather Delay
Was there a weather-related work stoppage today?
Inspections Passed
Number of inspections that passed today.
Inspections Failed
Number of inspections that failed and require re-work.
Workforce on Site
Total number of workers on site today.

What each result means

Daily Score
Composite daily performance score.
Safety Rating
Color-coded safety status for the day.
Inspection Pass Rate
Percentage of inspections passed today.
Productivity Index
Normalized productivity score.

How this is calculated

Worked example, using the default values

  1. Identify Input Parameters
    4 parameters
    Safety Incidents = 0, Weather Delay = 0, Inspections Passed = 3, Inspections Failed = 0 = 5 input(s) provided
  2. Calculate Daily Score
    Daily Score
    100 = 100
  3. Calculate Safety Rating
    Green — No Incidents = Green — No Incidents
  4. Calculate Inspection Pass Rate
    100 = 100
  5. Calculate Productivity Index
    Productivity Index
    100 = 100

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't Workforce on Site change my Daily Score?

Daily Score is the sum of three independent components -- Safety, Quality, and Productivity -- and none of them reference workforce count in their formulas. A 5-person crew and a 500-person crew logging identical incidents, inspections, and weather delays will show the exact same Daily Score.

Why does Productivity Index always equal my Daily Score?

Productivity Index is calculated as Daily Score divided by Workforce on Site, then multiplied back by that same Workforce on Site figure -- an algebraic identity where the division and multiplication exactly cancel. Despite being labeled a workforce-normalized metric, it currently always equals Daily Score regardless of crew size.

Why doesn't Workforce on Site change my Inspection Pass Rate either?

Inspection Pass Rate is calculated purely from Inspections Passed and Inspections Failed as a ratio of the total inspections logged that day. Workforce on Site never enters that ratio, so changing crew size alone has no effect on the reported pass rate.

How much does a single safety incident cost my Daily Score?

Safety starts at 40 of the 100 possible points and loses 15 points per incident, floored at zero, so a single incident costs more than a third of the entire safety allocation. Two incidents wipe out all but 10 of the 40 safety points.
