How to Use This Calculator
- Enter Contrast Ratio — use a color contrast checker tool to find the ratio between your text and background colors.
- Set Text Size (pt) — text 18pt or larger (or 14pt bold) qualifies as large text with relaxed contrast requirements (3:1 instead of 4.5:1).
- Set Has Alt Text to 1 if all meaningful images have descriptive alt attributes in your HTML.
- Set Keyboard Navigable to 1 if all interactive elements (buttons, links, forms) are operable without a mouse.
- Set ARIA Labels to 1 if dynamic content regions use proper ARIA roles and labels.
- Review Compliance Score (%) and WCAG Level — aim for Level AA (score ~80%) for legal compliance in most jurisdictions.
How the result changes with Contrast Ratio
| Contrast Ratio | Compliance Score (%) | WCAG Level (0=None, 1=A, 2=AA, 3=AAA) |

| 3 | 60% | 0 |
| 8 | 100% | 3 |
| 14 | 100% | 3 |
| 19 | 100% | 3 |
