How to Use This Calculator
  1. Select bean type (soybean, chickpea, or black bean) to set the base incubation time.
  2. Enter ambient temperature in °F and choose your incubator type.
  3. The calculator shows incubation time in hours, target temperature range, and the hour at which you should check and vent.
  4. Inoculate cooled beans with tempeh spores, spread to ~2 cm thickness in perforated bags, and incubate at the displayed temperature.
  5. Vent bags at the indicated check hour to prevent overheating from mycelium metabolism.
