How to Use This Calculator
  1. Select your pool shape: 1 = rectangular, 2 = oval, or 3 = round/circular.
  2. Enter the length and width in feet (or diameter for round pools).
  3. Enter the average depth in feet — for variable-depth pools, average the shallow and deep ends.
  4. Review Volume in Gallons and Volume in Cubic Feet as inputs for chemical dosing and heater sizing.
  5. Use Fill Time to estimate how long to fill with a garden hose (typically 5–10 GPM flow).

How the result changes with Length

LengthVolume
158,416 gallons
3821,319 gallons
6737,590 gallons
9151,055 gallons

What each input means

Pool Shape
1 = Rectangle, 2 = Round, 3 = Oval.
Length
Length of the pool (or long axis for oval pools).
Width
Width of the pool (or short axis for oval pools).
Average Depth
Average depth = (shallow end + deep end) / 2.
Diameter (round pools)
Diameter for round pools (ignored for rectangle/oval).

How this is calculated

Worked example, using the default values

  1. Identify Input Parameters
    4 parameters
    Pool Shape = 1, Length = 30, Width = 15, Average Depth = 5 = 5 input(s) provided
  2. Calculate Volume
    Volume
    16831 = 16831
  3. Calculate Volume
    Volume
    2250 = 2250
  4. Calculate Fill Time
    Fill Time
    31.2 = 31.2
