How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the patient's Body Weight in kg and select the Prep Type (PEG 4L, low-volume 2L, or Suprep).
- Enter the Procedure Time (hour in 24-hour format) to calculate the dosing schedule.
- Enter Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS) scores for right colon, transverse, and left colon.
- Review Total Prep Volume, Dose 1 and Dose 2 volumes and start times.
- Check Total BBPS Score to document prep quality and assess adequacy for polyp detection.
What each input means
- Body Weight (kg)
- Patient body weight in kilograms.
- Prep Type
- Select colonoscopy prep solution.
- Procedure Time (hour, 24h)
- Scheduled procedure time in 24-hour format (e.g., 10 for 10 AM, 14 for 2 PM).
- BBPS Right Colon
- Boston Bowel Prep Scale for right colon.
- BBPS Transverse Colon
- Boston Bowel Prep Scale for transverse colon.
- BBPS Left Colon

What each result means
- Total Prep Volume (mL)
- Total volume of prep solution to consume.
- Dose 1 Volume (mL)
- First dose (evening before procedure).
- Dose 2 Volume (mL)
- Second dose (morning of procedure).
- Dose 1 Start Time (24h)
- Recommended start time for first dose (evening before).
- Dose 2 Start Time (24h)
- Recommended start time for second dose (morning of). Finish 4–5 hours before procedure.
- Additional Clear Fluid (mL)
- Extra clear fluids to drink with prep for hydration.
- BBPS Total Score (0–9)
- Boston Bowel Preparation Scale total. ≥6 with ≥2 per segment = adequate prep.
- Adequate Prep (0/1)
- 1 = adequate prep (total ≥6 and each segment ≥2).
- Dose 1 Duration (min)
- Estimated time to finish dose 1 at 240 mL per 15 minutes.
- Dose 2 Duration (min)
- Estimated time to finish dose 2.
