How to Use This Calculator
- Enter dipstick results: pH, specific gravity, protein, glucose, ketones, blood, leukocyte esterase, nitrites, and bilirubin.
- Input microscopy findings if available: RBC, WBC, casts, and bacteria per high-power field.
- Review the flagged abnormal values and their clinical significance.
- Correlate hematuria with leukocyte esterase and nitrite results to differentiate infection, stone, or malignancy.
- Report critical values (e.g., heavy proteinuria) promptly to the ordering provider.
What each input means
- Specific Gravity (x100)
- Enter specific gravity x100 (e.g., 102 for 1.020). Normal range: 1.005-1.030.
- pH (x10)
- Enter pH x10 (e.g., 60 for 6.0). Normal range: 4.5-8.0.
- Protein
- 0 = Negative, 1 = Trace, 2 = 1+, 3 = 2+, 4 = 3+.
- Blood
- 0 = Negative, 1 = Trace, 2 = Small, 3 = Large.
- Leukocyte Esterase
- 0 = Negative, 1 = Trace, 2 = Small, 3 = Large. Positive suggests WBCs in urine.
- Nitrite
- 0 = Negative, 1 = Positive. Positive suggests bacterial infection.
