How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter the patient's weight in kg and the Target N2O concentration (20–50%) — typical pediatric dental sedation uses 30–40%.
  2. Enter the expected Procedure duration in minutes and set Sedation level (1 = minimal anxiolysis, 2 = moderate sedation).
  3. Review the Total gas flow (L/min), N2O flow rate (L/min), and O2 flow rate (L/min) to set your flowmeter.
  4. Verify the Actual O2 percentage — this must remain ≥ 30%; if the Safety alert flag = 1, increase O2 flow before proceeding.
  5. Note the Titration steps from 20% to your target concentration, N2O consumed (L), and Total O2 needed including the mandatory 5-minute post-procedure oxygen flush.
